Chelo Sierra (United Kingdom, 1952-2025).
With 'MalagaEXPRESS', Martin Parr incorporates Malaga—and Andalusia—into the great global puzzle in which he analyzes leisure and tourism behavior and the tensions between these and local identities. The work revolves around three of the British photographer's major recurring themes: Leisure, Food, and People. In colorful images through which he displays his simultaneously trivial and serious, scathing and tender gaze, focused on seemingly insignificant scenes or objects that, however, can reveal deeper meanings, the photographer dissects the domestic keys to everyday life in Malaga and presents us with an eclectic and mixed-race city, mobile and dynamic, which incubates its future on its old identity..

Con “MalagaEXPRESS”, Martin Parr incorpora a Málaga -y Andalucía- al gran puzzle global en el que viene analizando el comportamiento del ocio y el turismo y las tensiones entre estos y las identidades locales. El trabajo gira en torno a tres de las grandes constantes temáticas del fotógrafo británico: el Ocio, la Comida y la Gente. En imágenes coloristas a través de las que despliega su mirada simultáneamente trivial y grave, mordaz y tierna, posada sobre escenas u objetos aparentemente insignificantes que, sin embargo, pueden revelar lecturas más profundas, el fotógrafo desgrana las claves domésticas del día a día malagueño y nos presenta una ciudad ecléctica y mestiza, móvil y dinámica, que sobre su vieja identidad incuba su futuro.
