Chelo Sierra
(United Kingdom, 1952-2025).
With 'MalagaEXPRESS', Martin Parr incorporates Malaga—and Andalusia—into the great global puzzle in which he analyzes leisure and tourism behavior and the tensions between these and local identities. The work revolves around three of the British photographer's major recurring themes: Leisure, Food, and People. In colorful images through which he displays his simultaneously trivial and serious, scathing and tender gaze, focused on seemingly insignificant scenes or objects that, however, can reveal deeper meanings, the photographer dissects the domestic keys to everyday life in Malaga and presents us with an eclectic and mixed-race city, mobile and dynamic, which incubates its future on its old identity.. |
