Xavier Monsalvatje x Contemporánea
 

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Contemporánea, Valencian artist Xavier Monsalvatje has created “Suspiros” (Sighs), a new limited edition that also pays tribute to the city of Granada, where Contemporánea is based. This work, measuring 70 x 50 cm and limited to only 100 copies, is signed and numbered by the author. Monsalvatje is a painter and sculptor. His work features factories, industrial archaeological remains, and creations of new models of cosmopolis. The human figure does not appear, and if it does, it is in the form of an automaton or ideal worker. His sculptural work also features cities and ceramic containers that serve, on the one hand, to protect what will become extinct in the future (genetic information, animal species, cultural products such as incunabula or old films...) and, on the other, to store waste or debris, errors generated over time. His work has been exhibited in art centers and museums in Europe, Asia, and America.

Para celebrar el 30 Aniversario del nacimiento de Contemporánea, el artista valenciano Xavier Monsalvatje ha creado "Suspiros", una nueva edición limitada, también homenaje a la ciudad de Granada; ciudad originaria de Contemporánea. Esta obra, de medidas 70 x 50 cm, y limitada tan solo a 100 ejemplares, se presenta firmada y numerada por el autor. Pintor y escultor, en la obra de Monsalvatje aparecen fábricas, restos de arqueología industrial, y creaciones de nuevos modelos de cosmópolis. La figura humana no aparece, y si lo hace es a modo de autómata o ideal operario. En su trabajo escultórico también hay ciudades y contenedores cerámicos que sirven, por un lado, para proteger lo que en el futuro se extinguirá (información genética, especies animales, productos de cultura, como incunables o films antiguos...), y, por otro, para guardar residuos o desechos, errores generados a lo largo del tiempo. Su obra se ha podido ver en centros de arte y museos de Europa, Asia y América.
